Danielle Ash received her BFA in animation at the School of the Art Institute of
Chicago and an MFA in Experimental Animation at CalArts.
Before moving to Los Angeles Danielle worked in New York City as a sound
designer at Animation Collective while continuing to make short animations in a
little studio in Brooklyn. As well created several educational programs for young
audiences, mostly involving puppets in one way or another.
While at CalArts she collaborated on many projects in animation, theater,
puppetry and music. “Pickles for Nickels” her thesis film, uses a variety of
techniques involving stop-motion animation, cardboard sets and puppets
combined with elements of computer animation. She is currently working in
animation and title design.
Danielle has recently screened in festivals from Vienna to Los Angeles and has
exhibited animated toy installation work in New York and LA.
Danielle enjoys thinking about the universe and playing her saw in her free time.
